A History of Medical Cannabis

Hi folks, this time our topic is the History of Cannabis as a Medicine. Historical books on medicine, including the United States pharmacopoeia; until 1942, have documented the healing properties of Cannabis all the way back to around 3,000BC. It has worked as an anti-inflammatory, pain reducer, PMS and anti-cramp, neuropathic remedy (stress, anxiety, depression, Alzheimer's), and the list goes on....

In 1937, the U.S. passed the first federal law against cannabis, despite the objections of the American Medical Association (AMA). Dr. William C. Woodward, testifying on behalf of the AMA, told Congress that, "The American Medical Association knows of no evidence that marijuana is a dangerous drug" and warned that a prohibition "loses sight of the fact that future investigation may show that there are substantial medical uses for Cannabis."
Ironically, the U.S. federal government currently grows and provides cannabis for a small number of patients. In 1976 the federal government created the Investigational New Drug (IND) compassionate access research program to allow patients to receive up to nine pounds of cannabis from the government each year. Today, five surviving patients still receive medical cannabis from the federal government, paid for by federal tax dollars.  ~ http://www.safeaccessnow.org/section.php?id=175

It is also the ONLY plant on Earth that could Heal Our Planet, if given the chance, of the Greenhouse Effect that now plagues our planet! It can rejuvenate the soil by pulling out the impurities as it grows in said soil. American Farmers used to be required by Law to grow Hemp Cannabis, for paper, fuel, clothes, ropes, and  Medicine :-)   Nearly everything that you could possibly think of, from paper to cars, can be made more Green by using Hemp rather than the non-renewable resources that we use today to make them. Even plastics!!! Hemp is a Non-Toxic substance!!!!

Everyone gets in a tizzy about the effects of the Cannabinoid known as THC in the Cannabis plant, because it is this cannabinoid that is known as Psychoactive, yet few know that is does indeed have many Medicinal Applications/Uses. (Protects against Cancer, reduces nausea, relieves pain, appetite stimulant, relieves spasms, muscle relaxant, antimicrobial, protects the nervous system, relieves Crohn's disease, anti-inflammatory, and an antioxidant) It is because of the fear of the Psychoactive effect of the THC, that this Medicine has been stripped from us, and the planet, since 1937, despite the fact that there has never been a single death contributed to its use. Our Pharmacies are selling more lethal/killer drugs than even the Drug Cartels. Fact: Legal pharmacuetical drugs kill more Americans/People each year than ALL Illegal Drugs Combined!!! That's right, even the likes of Cocaine, Heroin, PCP, LSD and Meth kill fewer people each year than those pills the doctors keep telling us to take from the Drugstore.

It saddens me to know that it is because of the spreading of FEAR that the most useful Plant on the PLANET, has nearly been forced into EXTICTION. It is only because the Powers that be elsewhere in the World, came to their senses and realized that they had nearly bannished the largest, most beneficial Cash Crop on Earth. Now a days we are the ONLY commercialized nation that still bans the growing of Hemp nationally. I thank God that some of the states within the US have ruled that Hemp may be produced in their states, so that we no longer have to import all Hemp from other countries in order to make our Hemp Products (clothes, lotions, salves, shampoos, etc) that we now see in retail stores across America, once again. Yeah!!!!

Not only is beneficial to humans, but it is also a superfood craved by fish and birds as well. It can feed the masses that are Starving Worlwide! And it thrives in drought conditions... yes! Learn more at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medical_cannabis

I only ask that if you are still reading this, help spread this information that our Government has blatently disregarded and kept under-the-covers for as long as they possibly could. We all must do more as individuals to spread the word about the Plant that Can Save Our Planet from the need of Fossil Fuels, Coal, and Nuclear Energy. Go Green, Grow Hemp!!!

Welcome To All

I would like to say "Welcome" to all of those who have just chosen to check out MMJ Dr Mom.

I will be sharing education on the subject of MMJ here, for all those who are in search of the truths about that earthly plant that most these days know as "Marijuana" . I shall bring history, science, experience, and reality into these discussions. I will avoid the spreading of any myths that have corrupted the minds of so many over the past 80 years.

I have personally become a patient of MMJ to minimize the toxins that the doctors were prescribing to me after my multiple back injuries, and my most recent injuries sustained in a automobile accident. They had no problem (it seemed) to just continue to prescribe more and more meds to take care of my pains, and then for all the side effects that the pain killers were causing. When it looked as though I had my own personal pharmacy at home, my husband said, "Enough is ENOUGH!!"

The state of CO had already passed new laws allowing for patients to try Cannabis as a Alternative Treatment for a number of ailments, so I looked into whether or not it could help with my issues. That is when I started my Personal Education on Cannabis Sativa & Cannabis Indica. (aka Marijuana) ~ Honestly it is when I began actually reading about the subject. I had already done my "experimenting" with it as a kid in school, and already knew it to be safer than alcohol for me and my friends, because we had tried both. We always got ourselves into more trouble when alcohol was involved.

I didn't just listen to anyone who was willing to talk to me about it either. I started my Education with an Essay that was due for my college English Comp class. It was a Pros & Cons paper that we had to do, so I chose the Pros & Cons of Medical Marijuana to study and report on. I was overwhelmed with the amount of information that I was able to find on the subject. My Google search came up with pages and pages of results; the facts stacked up for the benefits of it, and bias and fear stacked up against it.

I will share those results, and further facts that I have since uncovered about Cannabis, that I now gladly share with others, so that they might be able to also be informed by a factual source rather than by bias and fear of the unknown.

Again, WELCOME, and now.... stay tuned...  :-)
